Crocheted Mesh Cap

 Size: Teen to adult (stretches to fit)
Materials: Tahki Cotton Classic, Speed-Cro-Sheen, or similar medium-weight cotton
Size F hook

Rnd 1: Chain 4, join into ring (or use double-loop beginning method), ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3 (12 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in same dc, *2 dc next dc, rep from * around, sl st join (24 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in same dc, 1 dc in next dc, *2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc, rep from * around, sl st join (36 dc)
Rnd 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in same dc, 1 dc in next 2 dc, *2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 2 dc, rep from * around, sl st join (48 dc)
Rnd 5: Ch 3, 1 dc in same dc, 1 dc in next 3 dc, *2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 3 dc, rep from * around, sl st join (60 dc). This completes solid top of hat.
Begin mesh pattern:
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in same dc, *ch 7, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, rep from * around, join to beg sc by working ch 3, triple crochet into beg sc (this places you in the center of last loop worked) (20 ch-7 loops)
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in same loop, *ch 7, sc in next loop, rep from * around, join to beg sc by ch 3, triple crochet into beg sc.
Rnds 8-13: Repeat Round 7 (there should be 8 rounds of ch-7 loops)
CHANGE TO ONE SIZE LARGER HOOK SO EDGING WILL FIT COMFORTABLY AROUND HEAD:
Rnd 14: Ch 3, 1 dc in same loop, work 3 dc in next loop and in each loop around to beg, work 1 dc in beg loop, join with sl st to top of beg dc (63 dc)
Rnds 15-16: Ch 1, sc in each dc around, sl st join, fasten off, weave in ends.
