FREE PATTERNS FOR BLANKET SQUARES (6” squares) Great project for group or community get-togethers and charitable causes
Gauge: 3.5 sts = 1” (sample shown in Lion Brand Yarns “Vanna’s Choice”) Needles: Size 10 (6.0 mm), or size necessary to achieve gauge
Cast on 21 sts. Knit every row until 38 rows have been worked. Bind off.
Gauge: 3.5 sts = 1” (sample shown in Lion Brand Yarns “Vanna’s Choice”) Hook: Size I/9 (5.50 mm), or size necessary to achieve gauge
Row 1: Chain 22, single crochet in second chain from hook, single crochet in each chain across, turn (21 single crochet)
Row 2: Chain 1, single crochet in each single crochet across, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until 24 rows have been worked. Fasten off.
Finishing: Arrange squares as desired to form pillows, scarves, baby blankets, lapghans or afghans. Squares can be left unedged or a single crochet border can be worked evenly around each square in same or contrast color. Squares can be joined with mattress stitch, whipstitch, slip stitch or single crochet.
