Circular needle is used for working the ruffled border in continuous rounds. A row counter is useful for keeping track of rows and rounds. Special stitches: Double moss stitch: Row 1 (RS): *K2, p2, rep from * across to last 2 sts, k2. Row 2 (WS): *P2, k2, rep from * across to last 2 sts, p2. Row 3 (RS): *P2, k2, rep from * across to last 2 sts, p2. Row 4 (WS): *K2, p2, rep from * across to last 2 sts, k2. Rep Rows 1-4 for double moss stitch. Terms/Abbreviations : beginning (beg), bind off (BO), cast on (CO), increase (inc), knit (k),place marker (pm), purl (p), repeat (rep), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st), stitch (st), yarn over (yo) Dishcloth CO 26. Rows 1-36: Work in double moss stitch pattern (see Special Stitches above). Bind off loosely in knit, placing remaining loop from last bound-off stitch onto the crochet hook. Crocheted edging round: With right side facing, ch 1, *work 25 sc evenly across to next corner, sc in corner, rep from * around, join with sl st (104 sc). Do not fasten off but transfer the remaining loop to the circular needle. Ruffled border (worked in rounds): With right side facing and with circular needle, pick up one st in each sc around (inserting needle under the top 2 loops of ea sc)(104 sts) Important : Double-check stitch count at this point to be sure there are 104 sts on needle beforeproceeding. Place marker to note beg of rnds. Note: Do not turn work at end of each round but continue in same direction. You will beproducing garter-stitch-in-the-round between each ruffle as follows: Rnd 1 (set-up & inc rnd): *K12, in next st work (yo, k1, yo), k12, in next st (i.e., corner st) work (yo, k1, yo), rep from * around (120 sts) Rnd 2: *P12, k3, rep from * around. Rnd 3 (inc rnd): *K12, yo, k3, yo, rep from * around (136 sts) Rnd 4: *P12, k5, rep from * around. Rnd 5 (inc rnd): *K12, yo, k5, yo, rep from * around (152 sts) Rnd 6: *P12, k7, rep from * around. Bind off in knit. Weave in all tails.
