Casual version:
12 single crochet, 14 rows = 4" on size K hook with
worsted wt. yarn
Dressy version:
13 single crochet, 16 rows = 4" on size K hook with
DK wt. yarn
Stitches/Terms: beginning (beg), chain (ch), repeat
(rep), single crochet (sc),
space (sp), stitch (st)
Prepare fringe: Wrap lengths of each color around a
9" measure (book or piece
of cardboard) fifteen times, cut strands at one end
and set aside for fringe (total
30 strands, 15 of each color)
Notes: At color changes (every two rows), DO NOT CUT
yarn, but carry it
loosely up side of work. Loose strands will be
encased by single crochet edging
when scarf is completed.
To change color: When last step of stitch before
color change is reached, pull
new color through loops on hook, drop old color, and
continue work with new
color.

Repeat Rows 3-6 until scarf is desired length,
ending with 2 rows Color A and
reserving enough of Color A or B to work edging.
Edging: With choice of color, attach yarn in any
stitch on end of scarf, ch 1,
single crochet evenly around all 4 edges of scarf,
working 3 sc in ea corner and
keeping tension even along sides to allow for
stretch. Fasten off and weave in
ends.
Attach fringe: Attach 1 strand of fringe in ea
stitch on both ends of scarf,
alternating colors. Insert hook into stitch, fold
strand in half over hook, draw loop
through fabric, then pull ends of strand through
loop on hook and tighten knot.
Trim fringe to desired length.
