“THE POINT” WRAP (crochet)
Skill level:
Easy
Size: approx. 21” wide x 57” long
Materials:
400 yds. chunky-wt. textured fashion yarn (sample shown in Lion
Brand Homespun, color “Nouveau”)
Size N/15 (10 mm) crochet hook, or size needed to achieve gauge
Tapestry needle
Gauge:
8 dc & 6 rows = 4” in double crochet on size N/15 (10 mm) hook
Terms/Abbreviations:
beginning (beg), chain (ch), double crochet (dc), hook (hk), repeat
(rep), single crochet (sc), skip (sk), slip stitch (sl st), space
(sp), stitch (st)
Wrap
Begin point:
Row 1: Ch 4, work 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, turn
(3 dc)
Row 2: Ch 3, dc in first dc, ch 1, 2 dc in top of turning ch,
turn (4 dc, 1 ch-1 sp)
Row 3: Ch 3, dc in first dc, ch 1, 2 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, 2 dc in
top of turning ch, turn (6 dc, 2 ch-1 sps)
Row 4: Ch 3, dc in first dc, *ch 1, 2 dc in next ch-1 sp, rep from *
across, ending ch 1, 2 dc in top of turning ch, turn (8 dc)
Rep Row 4 until there are thirteen 2-dc groups & 12 ch-1 sps,
turn.
Begin solid portion:
Row 1: Ch 3, dc in ea dc and sp across, turn (38 dc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in ea dc across, turn (38 sc)
Row 3: Ch 3, dc in ea sc across, turn (38 dc)
Rep Rows 2-3 until solid portion of wrap measures approx. 46”, or
desired length to wrap around shoulders. Fasten off.
Finishing
Optional chain ties (make 2):
Ch 66, sl st in 2nd ch from hk and in ea ch to end.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Try wrap on and determine if/where you would like to tie it closed.
Thread one chain tie through that point on each side of wrap and use
as a tie closure. Alternatives: use a shawl pin or button closure.
