pattern, seven 2-dc groups & 6 spaces = 4”, 7 rows = 3” on size G/6
(4.50 mm) hook
Pattern notes:
Kerchief is worked back and forth in rows from center back point
upward, increasing at sides each row to form a triangle shape.

Kerchief
Row 1:
Ch 4, work 2 dc in 4th ch from hk, turn (3 dc)
Row 2
(inc row): Ch 3, dc in same st at base of beg ch-3, ch 1, sk next
dc, 2 dc in top of turning ch, turn (two 2-dc grps, 1 sp)
Row 3
(inc row): Ch 3, dc in same st at base of beg ch-3, ch 1, sk next
dc, 2 dc in next sp, ch 1, sk next dc, 2 dc in top of turning ch,
turn (three 2-dc grps, 2 sps)
Row 4
(inc row): Ch 3, dc in same st at base of beg ch-3, ch 1, sk next
dc, 2 dc in next sp, ch 1, sk next 2-dc grp, 2 dc in next sp, ch 1,
sk next dc, 2 dc in top of turning ch, turn (four 2-dc grps,
3 sps)
Row 5
(inc row): Ch 3, dc in same st at base of beg ch-3, ch 1, sk next
dc, 2 dc in next sp, *ch 1, sk next 2-dc grp, 2 dc in next sp, rep
from * across to last dc & turning ch, ch 1, sk last dc, 2 dc in top
of turning ch, turn (row has increased by one grp & one sp)
Rep
Row 5 until 22 rows from beg have been completed (22 grps, 21 sps).
At end
of last row do not turn, do not cut yarn.
Edging:
Working 2 sc in ea row end on sides of triangle, ch 1, work 44 sc
evenly down left side of kerchief, work 3 sc at center back point,
work 44 sc evenly along second side of kerchief, sc in ea dc & ea sp
across top of kerchief, join with sl st to first sc. Do not turn,
do not cut yarn.
Optionally, kerchief can be embellished with beads across the
top, adding a few at center back point, as shown in red version.
Ties:
Ch 65,
sl st in ea ch across until you reach kerchief body (first tie
completed), sl st in ea sc across top of kerchief, ch 65, sl st in
ea ch across until you reach kerchief body (second tie completed),
join with sl st to top right corner st on kerchief. Fasten off and
weave in tails.
